4-H Clubs – Preparing today’s youth for tomorrow’s
challenges. Students in grades 3-12 belong to 6 4-H clubs in our community.
Canadian Area YMCA – Great programs for all ages are made
possible by YMCA employees and volunteers.
Canadian Arts Alliance – Provides annual scholarships to CHS
graduates and brings quality music, theatrical performances, workshops and educational programs to town.
Canadian Volunteer Fire Department – When the smoke clears
and we breathe a collective sigh of relief, we have the dedicated men and women of the Canadian Volunteer Fire Department
to thank.
Edward Abraham Memorial Home – Dedicated volunteers provide
residents with companionship, music, prayer, daily excursions about town and much more.
Hemphill County Hospice – “Earth Angels” bringing
quality of life to patients and families. The hospice wing in the hospital features chapel and patient room with an attached
family room.
Hemphill County Library – The Friends of the Library raise
funds for many worthwhile programs including the popular Summer Reading Program.
Lions Club – “Vision on the future.” The Lions
Club provides eye care and glasses to those in need and fund raisers to help finance programs abroad.
Little League Sports – Boys and girls take to the field to
“play ball” thanks to the many coaches, volunteers, and sponsors who feel that sports teach valuable lessons.
Rachel’s Little House – From chaperones to cupcakes,
maintenance to money raising, volunteers keep the doors open so children will have their own house.
Rotary Club – Service above self is the motto. In addition
to sponsoring exchange students, local members work with area youth promoting high standards of conduct.
River Valley Pioneer Museum – Volunteers preserve Hemphill
County’s rich past with a uniquely personal museum.
Scouting in Canadian – Local boy and girl scout troops enjoy
camping, fishing, canoeing and outdoor adventures.
Sharing is Caring – Distributes food, clothing and good will
each Saturday.
Storm Chasers – Over 400 volunteers are on call in eight sectors,
providing life saving up-to-the-minute information.
Tralee Crisis Center – Tralee offers 24-hour hot line, emergency
shelter, legal advocacy, counseling and support for victims of abuse and domestic violence.
Woman’s Services League – Over 200 meals are delivered
every week by the Meals on Wheels program, directed by the Woman’s Service League.
